Holy Trinity Welcomes Fr. George Kokhno!

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!

Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of Ashburn Virginia, a parish of the Orthodox Church in America, welcomes the announcement of the assignment of our new pastor, the Very Reverend George Kokhno. His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, recognizing Holy Trinity’s ongoing need for pastoral leadership following the falling asleep of Fr Paul Harrilchak, chose Fr George to consider the assignment and he graciously accepted the call to serve.  Well known to us, Fr George is a longtime friend to the Holy Trinity community through his long association with our beloved Fr. Paul, and through his regular visits over past years serving, worshiping or celebrating Church events. His familiarity with our community and his unique strengths will provide stability, while his wisdom and experienced pastoral care will serve us well during this transitional period in the life of Holy Trinity.

Fr George was associated with St Nicholas Cathedral in Washington D.C. for over twenty-five years, and formally served thirteen years as Associate Priest, and during his time, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, described his impact as “deeply beloved by the community, and his pastoral gifts have been an extraordinary blessing to St Nicholas Cathedral.”

Fr George is a graduate of the Odessa Theological Seminary and the Moscow Theological Academy.

We expect Fr George will begin his Holy Trinity ministry in February nearer the beginning of the Great Forty Days.  Additionally, we extend our deep gratitude to Fr Dennis Buck, pastor of St Catherine Orthodox Church in Hagerstown, MD, whose energetic clergy support over the past few years made available to our community the gift of the Eucharist with Saturday Divine Liturgy celebrations.

May God grant Fr George and Fr Dennis Many Years!

In Christ,

Parish Council
